Welcome to the Midwest- The land of bipolar climate changes, tons of snow, and crazy humidity. All this change in the weather is super harsh on your skin. As we know spring and summer are around the corner so here are some great tips to jump start the season, make them into a habit and have great skin all year long! So here are some tips from your in-house esthetician/makeup artist Holly, here at Sexy Lil Photography Eliza Portrait Design on how to cure your dry skin.
~ Turn your thermostats down and add a humidifier to your room. Central air is harsh on your skin and a humidifier will replenish some moisture.
~ Every skin type, even us oily skin girls, need to be sure we are using the correct moisturizer for the season. Yes, I said season. Most people can’t get away with using the same ol’ moisturizer in the summer and winter, so I suggest contacting your esthetician (or me!) to speak about what you should be using.
~ Use cooler water in the shower and pat your skin dry. I know this one is hard, but trust me it works. Hot showers are amazing, but it will dry your skin out like crazy. Make sure you are applying moisturizer within 10 minutes after shower time.
~ Exfoliation! Do not over exfoliate. Once or twice a week is fine, unless your esthetician advises more. Maybe your cleanser has some sort of exfoliate( be sure to check before adding more in). Just be sure you are not stripping your skin of nutrients when you cleanse.
~ Uv rays are there even when the sun can’t be seen. Make sure you are using a good SPF. Sun dries out your skin and causes premature aging.
~ Schedule regular facials. These deep cleanse your skin purging it of gunk you cannot get to on your own.
Try changing one little thing per week and it will make a world of difference!
~PS: Remember to moisturize before your Sexy Lil Photo shoot!
